THESE ARE VIDEOS BY PASSIONATE PEOPLE
The sad part about these videos is they are four or five years old. If we want change, we must do something ourselves, not expect politicians to help dentistry. Go to Ted Talks. There are great ideas. The first three are on dentistry. The others are related to how we should work.

Prevention is better than cure. This is a slightly disturbing video. It raises the concern about where our profession is going. On the course, I went to in Las Vegas Frank Spear presented a warning that we are taking out too many teeth. Poor periodontally compromised teeth last longer than the implants that replace them.
For those who wonder how this can work in dentistry, this is a start.

Another elderly dentist, not quite as eloquent as Marielle, but "Think Again".
For a more professional insight into how our dental health and oral health I recommend Professor Iain Chapple and his more recent research with respect to Kidney disease. This is unusual in these are not academics. They are general practitioners who are, after a lifetime in dentistry, concerned that our health message doesn't work. |

These are non dental tedtalks
I have either bought the book or an audiobook for these. They are inspiring talks. Sadly Ken Robinson died last year. But his comment about seeing God is brilliant. Ted talks are less than 17 minutes, as we lose attention after twenty minutes. It takes much more effort to make a precise talk than a three-hour lecture, as outlined by Chris Anderson.
Do you ever wonder how you learn? Do you agree with everything you were told? Are you a paid-up member of the flat earth society, and is the evidence you refer to justified or applicable to our role?
We should think for ourselves and discuss and debate our views. Why rinse with a fluoride mouthwash after using fluoride toothpaste? Which mouthwash reaches the enamel surface, and which the periodontal pocket? Be like Picasso, don't lose your inner child.

We are all struggling to get our patients to get a set routine. This is the basis for my video on the habit loop within the App. The origin of this talk is around toothpaste and is based on Claude Hopkins work with Pepsodent.
While companies advertise toothpaste, we should market toothbrushing, as we know 95% of good oral health is related to a good brushing habit, plus a good technique.

This is his original talk from 14 years ago, and you can listen to him now on his podcast, A bit of Optimism which also demonstrates how he is so well-connected. It's why your patients could have their dentist, hygienist, or therapist in their pocket if you customise the teeth4life App instead of the iPod 10,000 songs in your pocket. But now you have infinite songs on your cloud. Technology moves on. Let's embrace it.
