FD ZOOM MEETING
I made the contents of this page during Covid and gave my first Zoom talk for over three hours. I can't apologise enough for the FDs who had to listen. I included my trial run-through below 😁.
Just look at the pictures.
Twenty minutes is enough for any webinar, and I will gradually improve the content on the teeth4life Youtube Channel. youtube.com/@teeth4life

Collectively we can use IT to improve our work-life balance and not hinder it. We didn't have PCs when I started, mobile phones, gloves, or CPD. We did have air turbines, and we used them a lot. Perhaps we need to think and act differently.

OPEN LEARNING?
We need to keep current or up-to-date, and IT is excellent for this.
But we need to be able to know how to use it effectively.
Wikipedia is the resource 70% of GPs use first as help. It is updated and administered by volunteers to help the public and the profession. For example, dental amalgam.
Soon you will be asking Siri about setting times for bioactive composites or interactions of the latest anticoagulant with the other medication your patient is taking.
Let's use IT to help us, and help our patients take ownership of their health to enhance our work-life Balance.

WEB PAGE, MOBILE PAGE, or APP
The public expects a digital presence from most businesses, and we are in the health business. Not everyone wants to promote their work on Instagram and Facebook. The teeth4life App can give you a customised on-line professional presence at a minimal cost and effort. Educate your by forwarding an email template before they leave your surgery with their BPE, raising awareness to check themselves monthly for oral cancer and reinforcing your treatment options advice. It helps reduce the likelihood of periodontal litigation.
The picture below represents my attempt to promote public prevention in oral health through different websites. Prevention seems neglected by the government, the profession, and the public. We need to have a business model based on prevention instead of treatment. Please subscribe to the teeth4life YouTube channel, as our my videos for the public on oral healthcare, and the profession on marketing ourselves. The more subscribers the more likely the over 50% of the public that don't access dental care with find some trustworthy OHI, and possibly you.

teeth4life is an eHealth product that helps the profession and the public, many of whom have difficulty accessing our care. Every interaction we make is a form of communication and more than ever, it's through a smartphone. We should get CPD to learn how to utilise IT. When I qualified, we knew that patients didn't fully listen to us during the surgery. That hasn't changed, but our means of communication have.
In I982 we didn't have mobile phones and used leaflets. Everyone looks at their phone. It's cheaper and more effective to send informative videos promoting health and ourselves via their phone. And its unlikely they will put their phone in the bin.😁
teeth4life- Your dentist in your pocket.
DenFlix may not be well known, but I couldn't find anything similar so I made it partly because I remember the experience of my first apicectomy from reading a book. A video would have been better.
COPEND could decide which categories for the BRONZE procedures in the mobile webpage. Different FD groups could be allocated a procedure to score. Individuals investigate YouTube and present the one they recommend or make their own.
The group decides on the best and submits it with brief details, including the length of the video and further reference links.
The Bronze section could be updated annually by a different group of FDs on their foundation year. But they have to be feasible under the current NHS framework. Should there be a SILVER section?

There would be another section to be completed by groups of dentists, such as study or peer review groups for a GOLD section where the procedure does not have the same constraints of available time, materials, and equipment. The groups would submit their preferred video sourced from YouTube but not related to any of their group. The nature of any profession is to improve standards, which could serve as a motivational tool for our clinical and digital skills.
Only Dundee university has a video library that they share. Stanford University in the USA is happy to share its business videos on making billion-dollar start-up companies. Still, our dental schools are reluctant to share their video resources.😤
I'm not sure if an apicectomy should be in BRONZE?

I've represented the DenFlix framework below, similar to the procedure I used to make the eHealth dental App. I've modified the venture design template for the lean start-up process. It is a form of disruptive innovation but needs a few more early adopters to get to a tipping point to help us help more of the public.
The teeth4life App is a video library for the user, who can personalise the App in My Teeth. Their preloaded advice is in My Care and Treatment. You can customise the App in My Dentist via care4teeth.co.uk.
To see me in My Dentist, type in Bristol and look for the teeth4life virtual practice.
Have a look at the different screenshots. The majority of the videos have been updated.
This was my first attempt on Zoom. I've since added the timings for you to skip to a part of the video you may be interested in, and the slide references are for me if ever I'm asked to give a presentation again. I'd want feedback and questions and not talk straight for three hours! Ted Talks are a maximum of 18 minutes for a reason.😳

I aim to produce something of value for the profession and the public using current technology while embracing the win/win scenario from Stephen Covey's book from 1989 and Deepak Chopra's 1994 book on the 7 Spiritual Laws of success. For more up-to-date references YouTube Simon Sinek, and Seth Godin. The video below is a demonstration on how the teeeth4life App works This is a demo on Denflix.co.uk which is best viewed on the mobile, as is care4tteth.org which is clearly aimed at the public.

We could have a national LDC site, with local sections for local issues.
The DentalHealthService could be maintained by a few interested groups, and promoted by the profession.
The care4teeth.co.uk explains how to register, customise, and use the App.
Denflix to be improved iteratively by FDS, and peer review groups. Some videos could be uploaded to App.
Teeth4life.org.uk on prevention and MID to be maintained by interested group.
I was too old to be diagnosed dyslexic. Any spelling or grammatical errors are because I didn't have Grammarly🤨
I'll gradually improve the site, including the content as well as the spelling. For any feedback DM [email protected]
