3D PRINTING
I met Larry Brown a few times at the NEC in the technicians' area. He is a lovely, unassuming, extremely bright, and engaging person. At the time, he mentioned that while it wasn’t yet possible to create long-lasting indirect restorations, it would be soon.
That time has arrived, although we've been slow to embrace digital technology. I have produced many Volkscrowns for the NHS using milled hybrid materials. Additionally, I have made inlays, onlays, occlusal, labial, and palatal veneers. However, the limitation was that the milling machine could only produce one restoration at a time. With 3D printing, multiple restorations can be made in a single print, significantly reducing work time. |

This video demonstrates my previous methods of using a scanner to create a variety of indirect restorations. With significant advancements in software technology, many of the manipulations that were once necessary are no longer required. I believe there is no valid reason why dental therapists shouldn't utilize this technology. If a restoration is deemed unsuitable, the software will alert users with a clear warning signal. I used a milling machine that made on restoration at a time. 3D printing allows multiple restorations in a single print.
